This policy explains what information Gifting Perfected (“we”, “us”) collects when you use giftingperfected.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. You don’t need an account to use this site, and we don’t ask for your name or email to use the gift finder.
What we collect
- Usage data. With your consent, Google Analytics records how the site is used: pages viewed, time on the site, the type of device and browser, the general location your IP address points to, and how you arrived. We use this to see which pages and gifts are useful and to fix problems.
- Gift finder answers. Your answers (budget, who the gift is for, interests and so on) travel in the page address so the results can load. We don’t link them to you or save them to a profile. Like any web address, they can appear in our host’s server logs and in your browser history.
- Server logs. Our web host automatically logs basic technical data, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your email address and message so we can reply.
Cookies
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them. A small number of cookies are needed for the site to work, such as the one that remembers your cookie choice. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie settings link on the site, or block cookies in your browser.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links, including links to Amazon. When you click one, you leave our site, and the store (for example Amazon) may set its own cookies to record that you came from us so we can be credited for a purchase. What happens on the store’s site is covered by its own privacy policy, not this one. Our affiliate disclosure explains how we earn commissions.
How we share information
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that run the site for us, such as our web host and Google Analytics, only as needed to provide their service.
- Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect the site, our rights or other people’s safety.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account. Server logs are kept for as long as our host keeps them. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to answer you.
Your choices and rights
You can reject analytics cookies, clear cookies in your browser, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. Email us at info(at)giftingperfected.com and we’ll respond within the time the law allows.
Children
This site is meant for adults shopping for gifts. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email info(at)giftingperfected.com and we’ll delete it.
Security
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
